While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, a typical day involves providing administrative assistance to Law Department colleagues including attorneys and leadership in a fast-paced civil litigation environment. The office allows for collaborative environments with access to team members for support. This is an excellent entry level opportunity in a legal environment and provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Hours for the position are Monday-Friday 8am-4:15pm CT.
Incumbency Period:
This position will have a 12-month incumbency period beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Posting for promotional positions are not subject to this incumbency period. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment.

Legal Administrative Support responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide administrative support and assistance to Law Department colleagues, including rotation reception duties
  • Reception area/phone responsibilities
  • Processing mail
  • Electronic filings
  • New file intake
  • Closing files
  • Ordering/downloading records
  • Communication with internal and external parties
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications
Previous Experience
  • Legal administrative/office environment experience is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with legal and medical terms
  • Familiarity with local and state court rules regarding pleadings, pre-trial matters, court deadlines and e-filing requirements is a competitive advantage
  • Proficient in software technology, including Microsoft Office and Adobe, tools, and case management system
  • Strong customer service background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Accurate, efficient, and comfortable working in an electronic environment
  • Strong ability to multi-task; anticipate deadlines to ensure completion of time sensitive tasks

Key Skills required
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritizing, decision making, multitasking, time management, and proactivity
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (attention to detail, accuracy of data entry)
  • Accurate typing skills
  • Knowledge of legal and medical terminology, local and state rules regarding pleadings and pre-trial matters, deadlines, and filing requirements is a competitive advantage
  • Experience with medical records collection through subpoenas and/or authorizations is a competitive advantage

Technology/software experience required
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
    • Working knowledge of a Document Storage system

    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
