Job description

Must be located near the Bay Area, with reliable transport to San Francisco, CA, and authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

About Us

We're a stealth-mode startup at the frontier of Physical AI, building foundation models for robotics and the world models that will power the next generation of thinking machines. We're early-stage, well-capitalized, fast-paced, and hands-on.

About the Role

The Robotics Operator plays a key role in contributing to our robotics models by running hands-on data collection and evaluation sessions. In this position, you will support one or more of our three main pipelines:

  • Data Collection - Operate robotic systems to complete a variety of physical tasks; e.g. folding clothing, sorting kitchenware, & opening bottles or jars.

  • Evaluation - Observe the robot completing a task and assign a score based on how accurately and successfully it performs.

  • Annotations - Review a captioned video, determine whether the caption accurately describes the robot’s actions, and correct it when necessary.

This is an entry-level role — no prior robotics experience required. This role is repetitive by design. You will typically be assigned to the pipeline that best matches your strengths, while assignments may also shift based on daily operational priorities. We are looking for people who are reliable, careful, patient, and precise.

Additional Tasks
  • Run quality checks on collected data to ensure accuracy

  • Maintain robotic equipment and testing stations

  • Document, report, and provide feedback on robot performance

  • Work with engineers to execute protocols, troubleshoot issues, and improve processes

  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines when working around robotic systems

  • Keep the lab clean, organized, and safe

What We're Looking For
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and the consistency to execute repetitive tasks the same way every time

  • Clear written communication and solid documentation habits

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort handling robotics equipment

  • Basic computer skills; comfortable on Mac and/or Linux

  • Reliability and strong follow-through, especially on shift-based schedules

  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and problem-solve

  • Comfortable adapting as priorities shift

Nice to Have
  • Experience with data collection, lab work, or other technical environments

  • Prior exposure to robotics, mechanical systems, or hardware

  • Familiarity with basic electronics or hand tools

  • Experience with data labeling or annotation work

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during testing and data collection.

  • Full use of both arms and hands for robot control

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Logistics & Benefits
  • Location: San Francisco, CA (South Beach/SoMa) — on-site 5 days a week

  • Hours: 40 hours/week, including a 30-minute lunch break

  • Employment: W-2, facilitated through Hire.io

  • Benefits: 12 days of PTO, Cigna Health Insurance

  • Contract Length: 6-months, with opportunity for long-term position

Schedule & Compensation
  • Shift Options (8 hours with 30-minute lunch break)

    • Day Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

    • Swing Shift: 6:00 PM–2:00 AM

    • Night Shift: 2:00 AM–10:00 AM.

  • Compensation:

    • Day Shift: $22+/hour, $8 DoorDash voucher for lunch

    • Swing Shift: $26/hour, dinner covered

    • Night Shift: $32/hour, dinner covered

Hiring Process
  1. Introductory video call

  2. One-day on-site assessment (9 AM - 5:30 PM, paid at $22/hr)

  3. Initial six-month contract with strong potential for a longer-term opportunity
