Job description

Apave America is seeking an Entry Level Lab Assistant - supporting Advanced Microwave Imaging.
This role is to support our clients work in microwave-based non-destructive testing (NDT), specifically focused on inspecting composite and nonmetallic assets such as fiberglass, HDPE piping, wind turbine blades, and tank structures.
Job Description The Lab Assistant would support both lab and field operations by:
  • Preparing and maintaining microwave inspection equipment (scanners, antennas, data acquisition systems)
  • Assisting with sample preparation and inspection setup
  • Supporting data collection using MAPS and similar systems
  • Documenting inspection results and maintaining data accuracy
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and quality procedures
  • Assisting with client demos and training activities

Core Responsibilities
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain microwave NDT inspection equipment (scanners, antennas, data acquisition systems)
  • Assist with sample and asset preparation (composites, fiberglass, HDPE) to ensure proper positioning and scan quality
  • Support and perform data collection using MAPS and other microwave inspection systems
  • Accurately document inspection parameters, scan data, and preliminary findings
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient lab environment
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and inspection procedures
  • Assist with client demonstrations, testing, and training activities

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in NDT, inspection, or technical lab environments
  • Hands-on experience with at least one method: UT, RT, MT, PT, ET, or similar
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment, sensors, or data acquisition systems
  • Experience in industrial, petrochemical, energy, or manufacturing environments
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical procedures and work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail in data collection and reporting
