Job description

Job Title: Molecular Technologist
Location: Pompano Beach, FL
Salary: $25-35/hour + Benefits

Position Overview

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a growing hybrid CRO in Pompano beach, FL to identify a Molecular Technologist to join their team. This laboratory is heavily focused on molecular diagnostics, including COVID testing, women’s health, infectious disease, and cancer screening assays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee high-complexity testing in accordance with CLIA, CAP, and regulatory standards
  • Lead, train, and mentor laboratory staff, including scheduling and performance oversight

  • Review, verify, and release patient results with a high level of accuracy

  • Ensure proper quality control, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation

  • Assist in assay validation, verification, and implementation of new testing platforms

  • Maintain compliance with all laboratory policies, procedures, and safety standards

  • Partner with leadership to support operational growth and process improvement initiatives

Molecular & Microbiology Focus

  • Perform and oversee molecular diagnostic testing using PCR and real-time PCR methodologies

  • Support testing across infectious disease, including Respiratory Pathogen Panels (RPP), COVID, and other viral/bacterial assays

  • Work with women’s health panels and cancer screening assays

  • Apply best practices in contamination control and molecular workflow design

  • Assist in troubleshooting complex molecular assays and resolving technical issues

  • Collaborate on development, validation, and optimization of molecular tests

  • Support microbiology workflows as needed, including specimen processing and result interpretation

Instrumentation Experience (Preferred)

Hands-on experience with the following platforms is highly preferred:

  • Abbott diagnostic systems

  • Roche cobas platforms

  • Cepheid GeneXpert systems

  • BioFire FilmArray systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field

  • Florida Clinical Laboratory Testing Personnel License in Molecular, Chemistry, and immunology

  • MT (ASCP), MT (AAB), or equivalent certification

  • Strong background in molecular diagnostics and PCR-based testing

  • Experience with infectious disease, women’s health, and/or oncology-related testing
