Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

We areย seekingย a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our healthcare team as a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will provide essential support to healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates with a passion for healthcare who are looking to start their career in a clinical setting.ย Medicalย Assistant provides basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed medical staff member and completes the required clerical duties associated with care provision.ย Additionally, the Medical Assistantย handles the intake of patients, vitals, documentation of past/present illness/history, chief complaint, medical labs, referrals, procedures, blood draws/injections, and relevant medical information.ย 

This is a Full-Time position. The hourly range for the Medical Assistant position is $24.00 - 28.09+. The hourly rate will be dependent on experience. Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Essential Functions:ย 

The functions performed by employees in this job family will vary by level or the area(s) to which assigned but may include (and not be limited to) the following.ย Employeeย must perform all duties and responsibilitiesย in accordance withย Via Careโ€™s care standards.ย 

  • Maintains complete andย accurateย patient records, including entering data into the computer, ensuring proper documentation of all procedures, andย assistingย with processing and billing of Managed Care, Family PACT, Medicare, Medi-Cal, CHPD, CPSP, or MHLA for patientย services.ย 

  • Assistsย with patient flow including receiving/greeting patients;ย locatingย charts; checking/making appointments; answering the telephone; and referring patients toย appropriateย person.ย 

  • Follows daily/weekly/monthly assignments as directed by supervisor (Clinic Manager/LVN).ย 

  • Utilizationย of CAIR, VFC, and other systems as directed byย supervisor.ย 

  • Assistย with immunization inventory, ordering, and reporting as directed byย supervisor.ย 

  • Assistย in ordering supplies,ย maintainingย inventoryย logย and supply destructionย log.ย 

  • Participate in cross-training for Front Office duties,ย assistingย Referral Coordinator and Pharmacy Technician if needed and as directed by theย supervisor.ย 

  • Electronic lab ordering and processing lab test results per clinicย policy.ย 

  • Assistย in glucometer training for diabetic patients, as ordered by theย provider.ย 

  • Receives and treats all patients with the utmost respect andย professionalism.ย ย 

  • Performs a wide variety of clerical duties including preparing routine correspondence, filing, photocopying, faxing, answering the telephone, and directing calls asย needed.ย 

  • Attends and activelyย participatesย in all team and staff meetings and related continuing educationย programs.ย 

  • Participate in ongoing training as required byย supervisor.ย 

  • Performs other duties as required byย supervisor.ย 

  • Assistย healthcare professionals in patient examination and treatment procedures.ย 

  • Aidย with patient education and instructions under the direction of healthcare providers.ย 

  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and organization.ย

Special Requirements:ย

  • Valid California Driverโ€™s License and automobile insuranceย coverage.ย 

  • TB clearance, to be renewed every year. COVID Vaccine and boosters as needed.ย ย 

Qualifications:ย ย 

  • Medical Assistant training and certificate of completion.ย ย 

  • CCMA certification preferred.

  • CPR certification โ€“ adult, child, infant, and obstructed airway โ€“ย required.ย 

  • Experience in medical front office procedures preferred.ย 

  • Bilingual Preferredย ย 

Environmental/Working Conditions:ย ย 

Normal office environment. Occasional overtime may beย requiredย and/or hours may be shortened as business needsย dictate. While performing the duties of this Job, the employeeย is regularly required toย sit. The employeeย is occasionally required toย use hands toย finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
