Description

Clary Sage College is looking for a Nail Technician Instructor! The Nail Technician Program prepares students for entry-level employment in Manicuring.Must be an experienced Nail Technician with a valid Oklahoma Master Instructor License (Cosmetology or Manicurist/Nail Technician Instructor) and have a minimum of three years of field experience with natural and acrylic nail enhancements. Must have experience inmassage techniques, arm, hand, leg, and foot anatomy, manicuring, pedicuring, and various artificial nail applications.Strong verbal communication abilities, customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to operate nail technology equipment. If you have a sincere desire to help others succeed in this industry and have a passion for teaching, this is a great opportunity for you! The schedule is Mon-Thurs. 12:00pm - 10:30pm (Four 10-hour days with 3-day weekends!). Full-time evenings with great benefits. Licensed by OBPVS.

Required Skills/Abilities

Education and Experience

  • A valid Oklahoma Master InstructorLicense is a compliance requirement
  • A minimum of threeyears of verifiable Nail Technicianfield experience (working as a Manicurist and/or Cosmetologist) is a compliance requirement
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical college teaching experience a plus
  • Diploma or Associatedegree in the field is a plus

Physical and Mental Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to:

  • Stand, sit, stoop, bend, kneel, reach outward/overhead, move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and other tools of the trade.
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing for most of the instructional period to best monitor student work in the lab setting, or sitting at a computer, for an extended period of time
  • Close vision requirements due to computer work and observing students' class work and lab performance.
  • Hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds
  • Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Attend work regularly and predictably, as scheduled
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with others, and ability to complete tasks in situations that have a productivity quota.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Counsel students in a professional manner, offering constructive, encouraging, and timely feedback
  • Adhere to curriculum expectations to ensure accreditation standards are met
  • Perform a variety of instructional assistance, tutoring, and related support functions as needed
  • Keep current on trends and styles as related to Nail Technology
  • Study, evaluate, and recommend the adoption of textbooks, teaching aids, and materials to improve instruction
  • Assist students in understanding the basic fundamentals of various aspects of the subject material
  • Monitor and assist with a variety of laboratory activities for students at various levels of proficiency
  • Prepare, operate, maintain, and demonstrate classroom and laboratory equipment and materials
  • Assist students with classroom and laboratory assignments, exercises, and tests
  • Prepare students for state boards
  • Document grades and attendance, post to transcript accordingly, maintain a working knowledge of Canvas
  • Be familiar with the rules and regulations of the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and other accrediting bodies affiliated with Clary Sage
  • Instruct students in safe service practices
  • Be familiar with current accrediting bodies and program societies i.e. ACCSC, and OSHA,adhere to OSHA standards and maintain compliance
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes
  • Provide students with individualized or small group assistance, guidance, and study strategies for the development and improvement of basic skills
  • Enforce consistency with the syllabus, lesson plans, and other module components, explain and clarify learning activities to students
  • Support student retention by reviewing individual completion of learning activities, monitoring attendance, and contacting students as necessary
  • Make instructor observations to promote professional improvement in the classroom
  • Assist with program/curriculum development as needed
  • Responsible for keeping inventory and purchasing supplies as needed for the program being taught
  • Maintain professional image, attitude, and appearance
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Attend Graduation Ceremonies and other college events as required
  • Report directly to the Department Head
