Job description

Beacon Veterinary Specialists in Fremont is searching for a Technician Assistant (TA) to support our veterinarians and supportive staff with a focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment. This entry-level role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our 24/7 emergency & specialty veterinary hospital, contributing to the highest level of care for the animals we serve!
Pay: $18-$22/hour
Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am-5:30pm
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
Surgical Preparation and Maintenance:
  • Prepare the surgery suite and instruments at the start of your shift, ensuring readiness for scheduled surgeries throughout the day.
  • Clean all areas between procedures and perform end-of-shift cleaning.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, ensuring no instruments are left unclean at the end of the shift.
  • Perform weekly and monthly maintenance on autoclaves.

Patient Care:
  • Clean and maintain patient areas, including cages and runs, ensuring no storage in runs.
  • Wash and put away patient dishes using the kennel sink.
  • Assist with animal restraint during examinations, radiographs, ultrasounds, and treatments as needed.

Hospital Upkeep:
  • Ensure hospital cleanliness throughout the day, including mopping floors and wiping down surfaces.
  • Manage laundry and waste disposal, including emptying garbage cans and transporting waste to dumpsters.

Inventory and Supply Management:
  • Stock and refill medical supplies, such as alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine scrub, and ultrasound gel throughout the hospital.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper stocking of exam rooms and anesthetic machines.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary hospital operations and animal care preferred.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in the veterinary field preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
