Job description

The Pipe Welder position supports mechanical contracting and service operations by performing SMAW (stick) welding. They are responsible for assisting the team in other areas of project installation if welding work is limited.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Perform stick welding on various commercial HVAC installation jobs. 
  • Provides welding instruction to the Welding Helpers if needed 
  • Interprets piping diagrams related to the job 
  • Communicates with lead man on supplies needed to complete project 
  • Works in a team to rig and install necessary systems components 
  • Maintains updated certification in welding 
  • Assists other team members with job duties as necessary
  • Maintain service uniform wear such as hats, shirts, pants, and shoes to ensure compliance with company dress code
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Collaborate with all Associates to uphold the company's mission and values
  • Travel up to 50% of the time as required
  • Must be able to work overtime/weekends as required

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school or general education degree (GED) with certification in welding experience from an accredited trade school or institution
  • 1+ years of welding experience or training
  • Proficiency with computer devices (including smart phones) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Apple iOS software
  • Must be able to pass internal welding test
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility
  • Must possess a valid drivers license

  • Ability to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 25 pounds regularly

  • Regularly considered in the Very Heavy Physical Demand Classification (PDC)
  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear; use hands to operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions
  • During job site visits, the Associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration
