Responsibilities What Weโ€™re Looking For:

If you're a talented and motivated entry level Software Engineer seeking to grow and take your skills to the next level, Iridium has a position for you on our innovative Satellite Software Project Engineering team! As a Software Engineer you'll have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in software development and maintenance for critical areas such as Iridiumโ€™s satellite application software and virtualized test environment products. In this role, you'll be responsible for collaboratively completing tasks that provide significant value to the team, supporting all phases of software. What Youโ€™ll Do:
  • Be a key contributor on our agile software development team
  • Use (and improve) existing software engineering processes to increase efficiency and quality in the satellite application software product
  • New feature development and maintenance updates for the application software product on Iridiumโ€™s satellite constellation
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of software product releases
  • Use Jira, Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Artifactory, and other tools to track changes and automate the provisioning of software artifact
  • Work with stakeholders from within the Satellite Software Product Team as well as other parts of the organization to solve challenging problem
  • Promote knowledge sharing through briefings, presentations, and other documentation such as UML diagrams and software specifications
Qualifications What Youโ€™ll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in the software engineering industry
  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms, operating systems, and computer architecture
  • Proficiency in C / C++ and Python programming languages
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
  • Ability to cultivate meaningful and productive relationships with other members of the team
  • The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you

ADA and EEO Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.

Base Pay Range: $70,000 - $88,000 USD

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus. Employee benefits also include medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 401(k) retirement plan options; paid time off and paid holidays; paid parental leave; and other discounts and perks.
