Key Responsibilities:
  • The candidate must have a strong working knowledge in Metal/nonmetal forms of additive manufacturing to include Laser Powder Bed Fusion, Directed Energy Deposition, Cold Spray Deposition, Fused Deposition Modeling, Stereolithography, and Binder Jetting.
  • The candidate must have a working knowledge in design for additive manufacturing, setting up structures for success full builds, optimizing printing parameters, preparing both the machine and the printed objects for follow on work, and be able to understand the machine code created for the printer.
  • The candidate is expected to grow their mechanical engineering abilities as needed to assist other non-additive based efforts within the organization and assist them as needed to ensure mission success of the program's team and the end client.
  • The candidate is expected to have knowledge on various material and mechanical testing processes, understand and set up finite element based simulations, and be able to aid in research driven tasking to include additive manufacturing of novel materials, concepts, and monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge in Friction Stir Welding (FSW) and FSW deposition is attractive along with knowledge in general welding, subtractive machining, CNC programing, JAVA Script coding, and metal heat treatments, stress relieving processes, while having familiarity with various CAD, CAM, Slicer, and predictive modeling software packages.
  • The candidate will be required to work closely with clients, internal and external project teams, interact with venders, subcontractors, and other subject matter experts on a regular basis.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Material Engineering, or other closely related engineering field with a focus on research and development plus 2-4 years of experience.
  • Have experience in preparing models and Additive Manufacturing apparatuses for the successful creation of builds.
  • Able to independently operate various forms of Additive Manufacturing Printers to include Laser Powder Bed Fusion, Directed Energy Deposition, Fused Deposition Modeling, and all associated items to load part files and maintain the machines.
  • Be able to correctly indefinity and handle the needed raw powder-based materials and gain or create the correct printing parameters to ensure a quality structure is created within the quality parameters of the end client.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work weekends, off-hour shifts, and travel occasionally to support project needs..

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidate must have a Master's Degree in Material Science, Material Engineering, or other closely related engineering field with a focus on research and development plus 0-2 years of experience.
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field, having experience in Additive Manufacturing of novel metallic systems.
  • A current Professional Engineering (PE) license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one.
  • Work experience in the USG Defense or commercial manufacturing industries.
