IBM Cybersecurity brings together security consultants, engineers, analysts, responders, and technical specialists who help organizations strengthen resilience against evolving cyber threats. In this role, you'll support real-world cybersecurity challenges across security operations, cloud security, identity and access management, risk management, threat detection, incident response, and emerging technologies.

Your role and responsibilities

During your internship, you will support real client security projects that help organizations protect applications, data, cloud environments, and critical infrastructure.

You'll work alongside experienced consultants while building hands-on experience in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, security operations, automation, and AI-enabled security capabilities. Interns may also be considered for IBM's full-time Associates program based on performance and business needs.

Working with senior security consultants, you will help analyze business and technical requirements and support security solutions across people, processes, and technology.

  • Knowledge of areas such as network security, software engineering, web or mobile application development, identity technologies, or secure application design
  • Familiarity with security and infrastructure tools such as vulnerability scanners, monitoring platforms, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, packet analysis tools, or encryption technologies
  • Interest in emerging cybersecurity trends including security automation, AI-assisted threat detection, and modern cloud security practices
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%

  • Ability to understand client challenges and contribute creative, logical, and practical solutions.
