Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Janitor II is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized factory facility. This role supports the Maintenance team during scheduled preventive maintenance activities and operates basic cleaning equipment to ensure the factory environment is free of hazards and remains in optimal working condition.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains cleanliness of floor surfaces by mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, waxing, buffing, stripping, and/or sealing.

• Cleans restrooms, including fixtures, surfaces, and replenishes supplies as needed.

• Cleans walls and windows and dusts fixtures as needed for thorough cleaning.

• Empties trash containers and disposes of waste in all facility areas.

• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and alerts supervisor when restocking is needed.

• Cleans company grounds by sweeping sidewalks, parking areas, and removing garbage and debris.

• Removes snow from sidewalks and parking areas if applicable and may assist with seasonal lawn maintenance.

• Cleans production areas, equipment, and workspaces to ensure safety and organization.

• Ensures pedestrian pathways in production and warehouse areas remain clear and safe.

• Identifies and reports hazardous conditions or unsafe areas to appropriate personnel.

• Operates powered equipment, such as pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, and floor sweepers.

• Assists Maintenance staff during scheduled preventive maintenance, using basic hand tools and battery-powered tools.

• May assist with training entry-level janitors by demonstrating job responsibilities and proper cleaning techniques.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Minimum of 1 year of janitorial or related cleaning experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting

• Proficient in operating basic cleaning equipment and powered tools (e.g., floor scrubbers, sweepers, and pallet jacks)

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and work independently

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify safety hazards

• Basic math skills for simple measurements and inventory tracking

• Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to work in a factory environment with exposure to dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals

• Ability to operate various cleaning equipment and power tools

• Ability to frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to and including 75 pounds

• Ability to frequently push and/or pull objects weighing up to and including 75 pounds

• Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb and/or squat

• Ability to withstand exposure to extreme climate variations; exposure to heat and cold

• Ability to frequently stand/walk
