The staff of the George Washington University Center for Career Services offers comprehensive career development, experiential education, and student employment services and resources for GW degree-seeking students, alumni and international exchange students. For employers, we offer a variety of services, programs and resources to help them meet their hiring and recruitment needs.
Position Specific Summary
The Front Desk Staff Assistant serves as the first point of contact for the Center for Career Services and supports the daily operations of the office. This position requires strong customer service, administrative, and organizational skills to assist students, alumni, employers, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include managing front desk operations, responding to inquiries, supporting career services programs and events, maintaining records, completing data-related tasks, and assisting with special projects. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Standard Position Description

The student will serve as an administrative assistant and perform tasks to support the operations of the the office or department. Tasks may include: assembling materials, filing, photocopying, giving directions or information, responding to phone or email inquiries, scanning and/indexing documents, light data entry, and other general office tasks. Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Handshake or similar career management systems.
  • Experience with data entry, reporting, or data analysis.

  • Familiarity with project management or scheduling tools (e.g., Trello, Calendly).
