Underwriting Assistant (Insurance -NOT Entry Level) | Midtown Manhattan | Temp-to-Perm
We are seeking a junior Underwriting Assistant with 1-2 years of insurance experience to join our growing team in Midtown Manhattan.
This is an entry-level role, but prior exposure to insurance underwriting or policy processing is required. Candidates without insurance experience will not be considered.
Compensation:
  • $21-$24/hour during the temporary period (based on experience)
  • Conversion to full-time at $60, 000 -$70, 000 + benefits
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support underwriters with new business submissions, quoting, binding, and policy maintenance
  • Enter and maintain data in Salesforce and underwriting systems
  • Assist with rating calculations and underwriting tools
  • Process premium transactions and endorsements
  • Prepare renewal accounts, including gathering loss runs and documentation
  • Coordinate with brokers and internal teams to support underwriting workflow
Required Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in the insurance industry (underwriting support, policy processing, brokerage, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of insurance policies, binders, or coverage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred (Nice to Have):
  • Exposure to underwriting or rating processes
  • Salesforce experience
  • Any experience with commercial lines or liability policies
