What is an entry level insurance job?

Entry level insurance jobs are positions within insurance companies or agencies that are designed for individuals who are new to the industry or have limited professional experience. These roles often include positions such as customer service representative, claims processor, sales agent trainee, or underwriting assistant. Entry level insurance jobs provide on-the-job training and opportunities to learn about insurance products, policies, and regulations. They are a great starting point for those interested in building a long-term career in the insurance field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level insurance professional?

To thrive as an Entry Level Insurance professional, you typically need foundational knowledge of insurance products, strong analytical skills, and at least a high school diploma or bachelor's degree. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, basic data entry systems, and, in some cases, an insurance license are important technical qualifications. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset help you build trust and effectively communicate with clients. These skills and qualities are crucial for providing accurate information, ensuring compliance, and delivering exceptional service in a competitive industry.

What are some typical challenges faced by entry level insurance professionals, and how can they be overcome?

Entry level insurance professionals often encounter challenges such as understanding complex policy details, managing a high volume of client inquiries, and achieving sales or service targets. To overcome these, it's important to proactively seek guidance from experienced colleagues, participate in available training programs, and stay organized with clear documentation. Building strong communication skills and maintaining a customer-focused mindset can also help in managing client relationships and meeting performance goals.

Both roles are essential for starting a career in insurance, but Insurance Agents usually involve more active sales and customer engagement.

How to get a job in entry level insurance with no experience?

Entry level insurance positions often require a high school diploma or equivalent and good communication skills. Candidates can improve their chances by obtaining relevant certifications such as the Property and Casualty license and gaining knowledge of insurance policies through online courses or training programs. Internships or volunteering can also provide valuable experience and demonstrate interest in the field.

What do entry level insurance agents do?

Entry level insurance agents assist clients in selecting insurance policies, explain coverage options, and process applications. They often conduct sales, provide customer service, and may use insurance software to manage policies, typically working under supervision to gain experience and may need to obtain relevant licensing.

Job description

Entry Level Sales Associate (Remote)

Remote | Virginia, Illinois, California, Washington, or Canada | Full-Time | Training Provided

Start Your Sales Career From Home

If you're looking for an opportunity where you can learn sales through real conversations rather than sitting through years of classroom training, this could be a strong starting point.

AO Globe Life is seeking Entry Level Sales Associates to connect with individuals who have expressed interest in learning more about available benefit options. You'll guide conversations, identify what matters to each client, explain available choices, and help them complete the appropriate next steps.

This position is designed for people who are willing to learn, communicate confidently, and take ownership of their daily work. Previous insurance or sales experience is not required.

Important Location Requirement

This remote position is currently open only to applicants who live in one of the following locations:

  • Virginia
  • Illinois
  • California
  • Washington
  • Any province or territory in Canada

Applicants must currently have a residential address in one of the eligible locations above.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting scheduled conversations with prospective clients
  • Asking questions to understand individual needs and priorities
  • Explaining benefit and coverage options based on client needs
  • Providing accurate information and answering client questions
  • Helping interested clients through the enrollment process
  • Maintaining timely follow-up with prospective and existing clients
  • Updating client information and sales activity
  • Attending virtual training sessions and team meetings
  • Applying feedback from coaches and improving your sales approach
  • Building professional relationships through consistent client communication

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own.

New representatives receive structured onboarding and ongoing guidance as they learn the position. You'll have access to training, coaching, and client inquiries so you can focus on developing your skills and gaining practical experience.

The role includes:

  • Work-from-home flexibility
  • Full-time schedule
  • Training for new representatives
  • Ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Warm client inquiries
  • No traditional cold-calling requirement
  • Weekly commission payments
  • Performance-based earning opportunities
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Virtual team support and collaboration

You May Be a Good Fit If You

  • Enjoy communicating with people
  • Can listen carefully and explain information clearly
  • Are comfortable learning through coaching
  • Can stay organized without constant supervision
  • Have reliable internet and basic computer skills
  • Take responsibility for following through on commitments
  • Are comfortable speaking by phone and video
  • Want to develop skills that can lead to greater responsibility in sales

You do not need previous insurance experience to apply. Customer service, retail, hospitality, administrative, call center, or other communication-based experience can be helpful, but it is not required.

Basic Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Currently residing in Virginia, Illinois, California, Washington, or Canada
  • Residential address in an eligible location
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Computer with webcam and microphone
  • Professional, distraction-free workspace
  • Ability to participate in scheduled virtual meetings and client appointments
