This is an entry-level position, so no previous legal work is required!

THE FIRM: Blaszkow Legal, PLLC is an established (founded in 1992) Northern Virginia personal injury law firm. We litigate personal injury and insurance claims in both state and federal courts in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. We are a small (but aggressive!), tech savvy, team that is focused on OUTSIDE THE BOX solutions that optimize client recoveries. We handle a full range of cases involving modest value to major, seven-figure cases, and our client-centric approach in every case keeps the five star reviews coming in on a regular basis.
JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for an entry-level Legal Assistant to become the newest member of the team. A Legal Assistant will help to process huge volumes of information and will be involved in data entry, opening up files, liaising with insurance companies, reviewing files to determine the locations of medical treatment, sending for medical records and itemized bills, drafting correspondence, answering phones, and learning all aspects of personal injury law in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
   
The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills to interact with clients from intake through all stages of litigation. A strong desire to advocate on behalf of our clients is a must. This is a full time position, that could occasionally entail weekend and evening work.
COMPENSATION: Base salary ranges from $38,000 - $40,000 (depending on qualifications and experience), plus reachable monthly performance bonuses, and participation bonuses for business brought to the firm. Other benefits include: PTO, BCBS health insurance, a retirement plan with employer match, and a professional development budget.
Bilingual Candidates who are fluent in English and Spanish will receive a translation bonus in the amount of $1,000 (Paid in two installments: after 30 days, and after 6 months)

Responsibilities:
Interview new clients and perform comprehensive evaluations of what has been done, and what needs to be
Initiate contact with insurance companies, and open firm files, to including the sending of correspondence
Send for medical records, itemized bills, and other documents
Follow-up on outstanding requests
Organize incoming faxes
Update Paralegals and Attorneys on case status
Answer telephones
Administrative and other management functions related to the practice of law
(Candidate will be eligible for promotion to Paralegal after 6 months)
Qualifications:
Experience with typing (minimum 45 WPM)
Ability to handle numerous tasks, and prioritize completion order
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to build rapport with clients
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
For bilingual candidates: must be fluent in English and Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Pashtu, or Amharic
