Job description

About the Role

Picture the start of your shift: you review last nightโ€™s downtime log, queue up preventive checks on Fanuc robots and PLCs, and fine-tune a SCADA display to surface the data your production team needs most. From there, youโ€™ll switch between programming tasks, troubleshooting networked controls, and coaching operators on best practicesโ€”all while keeping safety and GMP front and center.

Core Purpose

Keep our automation assets healthy and evolving. Youโ€™ll perform preventive and predictive maintenance across all automated systems and take ownership of designing, programming, diagnosing, and enhancing machinery and computer-based controls.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment and controls to maximize uptime.
  • Design, program, debug, and continuously improve machinery and computer control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical components (switches, motors, relays, sensors) to component level as needed.
  • Develop or refine automation solutions for manufacturing processes, including creating detailed wiring/PLC schematics from engineering requirements.
  • Install and commission industrial controls and computer-based systems supporting robots and automated production lines.
  • Evaluate, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial networks.
  • Support and repair PLCs, HMIs, distributed control systems, servos, drives, and robotic controllers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving effortsโ€”individually and with cross-functional teams; occasional travel to other sites may be required.
  • Follow all safety policies, GMP, company procedures, and recognized best practices.
  • Run scheduled PM programs and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Install, service, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as needed.
  • Train production personnel on safe, effective operation and basic maintenance of automated systems.
  • Analyze downtime and operator feedback; lead root cause analysis to eliminate repeat issues and variation.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.
Must-Have Experience
  • Direct hands-on experience with Fanuc PLCs and Fanuc robots.
  • Wonderware, SCADA, and Ignition experience preferred.
Education & Background
  • Associate degree in Technology, Electrical, Electronics, or Electro-Mechanical disciplinesโ€”or comparable certificationโ€”preferred; or a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Background across PLCs, robotics, servos/VFDs, vision systems/RFID scanners, and both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong organization, and solid problem-solving capability.
  • Comfort with intermediate math; able to read schematics and use precision measuring/inspection tools.
  • Interpersonal skills to train teammates and cross-functional partners.

Physical Requirements
  • Climbing ladders, stairs, and equipment using hands/arms and legs; requires agility.
  • Frequent stooping and crouching (bending at waist, legs, and spine).

  • Pushing and pulling with upper extremities; sustained exertion as needed.
  • Lifting and carryingโ€”medium work: up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly.
  • Regular grasping, feeling (temperature/texture/shape), and fine finger work.
  • Talking to exchange detailed information quickly and clearly.
  • Hearing: able to perceive sounds at approximately 500 Hz, 100 Hz, and 2000 Hz at levels of at least 40 dB, with or without correction; able to discern fine sound differences for precision adjustments.
