Control Technician - Building Automation Systems - JLL
What this job involves: As a Control Technician specializing in building management systems at JLL, you will be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge building automation solutions that optimize performance and energy efficiency for our clients. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving to ensure building systems operate at peak performance. You will contribute directly to JLL's mission of shaping the future of real estate by implementing and maintaining smart building technologies that enhance occupant comfort while reducing operational costs.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Install, configure, and commission building automation control systems (Priva, Metasys, Tridium, Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or similar platforms)
  • Program controllers and create control sequences according to design specifications
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in BMS/BAS systems
  • Perform routine maintenance and updates to ensure system reliability
  • Monitor building systems performance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency
  • Create and update system documentation and operating manuals
  • Provide technical support and training to clients and facility staff

Required Qualifications:
  • Technical diploma or degree in Building Systems, Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls, HVAC, Electrical, or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience with building automation systems or controls
  • Experience with one or more BMS platforms such as: Priva, Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium, Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Andover Continuum, or comparable systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles and building operations
  • Proficiency in BMS/BAS programming and configuration
  • Knowledge of network protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON, or other communication protocols)
  • Ability to read and interpret control drawings, schematics, and technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Priva, Metasys, or other major BMS platforms
  • Experience with DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems
  • Background in controls integration or systems commissioning
  • Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction
  • Willingness to respond to emergency service calls when required
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders
