Description:

This Entry-Level Automotive Technician supports the Jaguar/Land Rover Technical Center by performing basic maintenance and repair tasks under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor. This position is ideal for individuals beginning their career in automotive service and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance including oil and filter changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles meet quality and safety standards before customer delivery.
  • Assist with light maintenance and minor repairs as directed by senior technicians or the Shop Supervisor.
  • Inspect vehicles for wear, damage, and maintenance needs, and report findings promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and in good working condition.
  • Follow all safety and environmental guidelines, shop procedures, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Support other technicians and departments as needed to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Complete all required training and certifications as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.

General Technician Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis, maintenance, rework and robust validation (including road testing vehicles before and after rework for quality control and feedback) of company vehicles to ensure JLR product standards and customer expectation are met. Company vehicles will include vehicles from company fleet, training, press, early production, re-acquired vehicles.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspection.
  • Provide technical support on field evaluation units and special project vehicles.
  • Prepare new model launch vehicles and support new model launch events by providing on-site technical support as determined by JLRNA.
  • Ensure that vehicle is adequately protected while it is being worked on.
  • Follow published documentation relating to service, diagnostic and maintenance procedures/ processes (e.g. TOPIx) and provide product feedback to JLRNA (e.g. ePQR entered in GCM system to identify new and emerging issues).
  • Maintain diagnostic tools (e.g. SDD, Pathfinder) and hand-scan tools (e.g. ST512) to most recent software level.
  • Perform general workshop responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
