Job description

We need a nerd with social skills. Someone with a genius for clearly explaining technical issues to executives who may not have time for a lecture. The ability to act independently and the judgment to know when to reach out for help is key.

This position is for our entry-level HelpDesk Technician role. The majority of day to day work in this role will performed remotely and will include typical issue resolution issues. Password reset, automated alert review, user onboarding and offboarding, tier 1 troubleshooting, etc. Support is provided both via email and over the phone. At this time we have multiple positions open for both full-time and part-time candidates. We are hiring in the San Antonio and Ft Worth markets. Candidates are required to live within a reasonable commute distance from those metropolitan areas.

About us, TerminalSolutions is a regional Managed Services Provider that offers on-site and remote support for clients throughout the South and Southwest, with teams centered in San Antonio, Austin, Dallas/Ft Worth, and Illinois. Our daily work is a mix of on-site troubleshooting/consultation and remote support for our clients. Our clients come from all walks of life, ranging from home users all the way up to enterprise clients with hundreds of users. We fix what is broken, provide guidance for our clients and educate their users.

We focus on providing best-in-class remote support for our clients, but we do require that our team be willing to go on-site when needed to perform service that is impractical remotely. We are a hybrid work environment, with frequent on-site work performed at customer locations. During initial 120 days with the company we expect four days per week in office, in office time will vary after that. The ability to work effectively from home on a regular basis is a requirement of the job.

We have worked hard to build a team of strong personalities that love what they do. Our team mostly worked at Apple in one capacity or another in the past, and we have tried to carry much their culture into our own. Our organization has minimal bureaucracy and red tape and allows you to freely voice ideas and suggestions.

As a company we are committed to a work/life balance. It is rare for us to ask for after hours work, with the company wide average overtime worked less than 15 minutes per week. Schedule is typically 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Occasionally you will be asked to work a different schedule to accommodate travel, typically on weeks when travel is required we require a 4/10 schedule.

Someone who likes puzzles and who thrives in an ever-changing environment will love this job. There is always a new thing to be learned, a new idea to be tested, and the ways in which we can improve how we work together and for our clients.

TerminalSolutions is run by a hands-on owner who works alongside the team in the field and from the back office. We don’t pigeonhole our team, we expect everyone to be able to diagnose issues on a Mac, isolate network problems, recommend solutions to customers and speak articulately to how technology can shape workflows and culture in our client's companies.

At this time we are accepting applications for both Full-Time and Part-Time candidates.

We do have some specific requirements for this job:

  • The position is located in the Fort Worth, TX metro area, and residence within the area or surrounding towns is required.
  • Must have drivers license, reliable transportation and legally adequate insurance. Proof will be required.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. This job is as much about explaining why something went wrong as fixing what has broken.
  • Ability to stand alone and evaluate issues with the judgement to know when to get help from the rest of the team is very important.
  • Some experience providing IT support or technical work (auto repair, robotics, etc) is a key sign of a successful candidate.
  • This role will require occasional overnight travel, so reasonable access to the DFW area airports will be required. We will reimburse you for the costs of a TSA Pre membership.

Things that will make us sit up and pay attention:

  • Apple Certifications/Experience as a Genius, Genius Admin, Family Room Specialist or similar.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti networking equipment
  • Mobile Device Management experience
  • Any technical background or hobbies. If you know how to troubleshoot a carburetor or a build a guitar from scratch, brag about it.
  • We are a homeschooler friendly business, we love the self-starter attitude and problem solving skills we often find with people who grew up learning independently.

Key benefits of this job:

  • Two and a half weeks paid time off annually.
  • Access to a 401k account (Up to 4% matching)
  • One month maternity/paternity leave for eligible employees.
  • Work life balance - we very rarely work outside of an 8-5 office schedule.
  • Health Insurance is NOT provided at this time.

Payscale:

  • $20 to $30 per hour depending on experience
