Job description

STV is currently seeking a Land Development Civil Engineering Specialist for its Buildings group in Owings Mills, MD, which is currently the civil engineer of record for such high-profile projects as Harborplace and Baltimore Peninsula in Baltimore, MD. The candidate will collaborate on a wide variety of projects including conceptual master plans, schools, mixed-use, office buildings, industrial buildings, housing/apartment projects, commercial buildings, and civil/site structures. The position will allow the individual to collaborate with our civil design team preparing documents associated with a wide variety of land development projects within the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and be an Engineer In Training (EIT). Experience with MicroStation, Civil 3D or AutoCAD is strongly preferred.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level or early-career engineer to:


Work on high-profile projects in education, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional development.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on the full lifecycle of site development projects.
Gain hands-on experience in grading, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting.
Build toward professional licensure with mentorship and support from senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare construction documents, permit packages, and support construction services.
Utilize design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation; HydroCAD; Hydraflow Hydrographs and ArcGIS) to create construction drawings, layouts, and models for land development projects
Conduct site investigations and assessments to support design decisions.
Develop sustainable and innovative solutions for site layouts, stormwater management, grading, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and feasibility studies.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure permits and approvals.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate site design with overall project goals.
Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and progress.
Support project managers by monitoring budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
Stay current with industry trends, technology, and best practices to enhance project quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (required).
3 years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or a related field.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE exam is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with site development principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion/sediment control.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation (ArcGIS and Hydraflow Hydrographs preferred but not required).
Exposure to permitting processes in Maryland jurisdictions (Baltimore City experience a plus).
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to progress multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for client and team collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

$79,979.92 - $91,405.62
