Job description

Description Title: Lecturer (Indo-Pacific Lang) Position Number: pending Hiring Unit: College of Arts, Languages & Letters, Dept. of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures Location: Manoa Date Posted: April 07, 2016 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Minimum $1,911 per credit hour; commensurate with experience. Full Time/Part Time: Part Time Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool for Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026.

Contingent on course offerings, sufficient enrollment, position clearance, and availability of funds. Duties and Responsibilities To teach basic language skill courses in the target language. Maintain office hours and work with other language programs in integrating teaching efforts.

Languages include Arabic, Bengali, Cambodian, Chamorro, Filipino, Hindi, Ilokano, Indonesian, Maori, Samoan, Sanskrit, Tahitian, Thai, Tongan, Urdu and Vietnamese. Minimum Qualifications B.A. with emphasis on Education/Bilingual Education, Linguistics, ESL, Second Language/Foreign Language Teaching, or closely related fields; high level oral and written fluency in target language and English

Desirable Qualifications Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching; university level teaching experience of the target language; experience in target language curriculum development; evidence of prior or pending research and/or publications on target language.
