The Belgrade Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Probationary Police Officer. The Belgrade Police Department is a progressive, community-oriented department seeking motivated, career-minded officers who will be responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in the enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes; conducting and participating in general investigations of crimes, accidents, and cases; controlling traffic flow and enforcing state and local traffic regulations; and performing a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of the Department.

Bargaining Unit: Belgrade Police Officers Association (BPOA)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; eligible for overtime for hours worked over 80 in a pay period
Hours: Shift as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience and Training)
  • Graduation from High School or GED certificate;
  • Must be a citizen of the United States;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • No felony or convictions of PFMA, assaulting or alluding a peace officer;
  • Must be able to successfully complete basic course at MLEA or equivalent as designated by P.O.S.T advisory council or as determined by the Chief of Police.

Special Requirements/Licenses or Certificates
  • Meet any and all requirements for employment as required by the State of Montana law and the City of Belgrade.
  • Successfully pass a criminal history and driving record check.
  • Ability to pass entry-level police written examination and Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA) physical agility test.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record at the time of hire and have the ability to obtain a valid Montana driver's license within six months of hire.
