$54,000 - $67,000 | Hybrid with in-person reporting to Duluth, MN
Launch your accounting career by supporting the preparation, review, and analysis of financial data, reporting, and company consolidations for ALLETE and its affiliates. In this entry-level role, you'll help ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, contribute to external filings, and support the documentation and improvement of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting strongly preferred, but an equivalent degree with applicable accounting course work may be considered.
    • Candidates obtaining a bachelor's degree by December 31, 2026 will be considered.
  • No experience required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required in order to establish and maintain relationships.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, and/or aptitude.

What you'll do:
  • Assist with preparation, processing, review, analysis, and maintenance of periodic and miscellaneous accounting entries, accounting, budget, forecasted or other financial data and transactions, company consolidations, financial and operating reports, and other accounting processes for ALLETE and its affiliates.
  • Apply departmental policies and practices, assuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of various external regulatory reports and filings - MPUC, FERC, IRS, etc.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, maintenance and documentation of new and/or existing systems.

Compensation:
  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $54,000 - $67,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package, including an Incentive Program, Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision Plans, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
