Job Description:

The HVAC technician is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires extensive mastery of HVAC maintenance and repair. Regardless of specialty, an HVAC Technician III may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects. The level III is typically considered a "master" level, requiring additional certifications or licensure.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-330pm

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs routine to highly complex maintenance and inspections, diagnosing and repairing issues, ensuring all systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Works with a variety of systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and control systems.
  • Works independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Does not require the assistance of outside contractors to perform complex and technical tasks related to HVAC operations, repair, or maintenance.
  • May lead individuals or groups to accomplish projects or other difficult tasks related to HVAC.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
  • Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing.
  • Use of hand and power tools, proper use of hearing and eye protection.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures in nature, work in noisy or constricted spaces, exposure to odors and smells.
