VFX Artist — Practical FX & Gore Specialist

This is a Contracted position in the field of Film / Motion Picture Production, located in Los Angeles, CA.

The position pays $300.00 — $500.00 per day.

We are seeking an experienced VFX compositor and/or CG artist for an upcoming action horror feature with heavy practical FX enhancement. The ideal candidate has a strong reel demonstrating blood simulation and fluid dynamics, bullet impact effects on cloth and flesh, and hero gore work including facial trauma, wound cavity detail, and tissue destruction. Experience with practical SFX integration, enhancing on‑set blood gags, squib hits, and prosthetic work in compositing is essential. Hero shots include partial facial destruction requiring believable skin, bone, and tissue simulation that holds up in close‑up.

To Apply: Submit your reel with specific timestamps referencing blood work, bullet hits, gore enhancement, and any facial trauma or destruction sequences. Reels without relevant practical FX samples will not be considered.

Experience

Experience with particle simulation, fluid dynamics, skin surface deformation, and cloth/flesh bullet impact is strongly preferred. This is not entry level work; we need someone who has been in the trenches and can deliver visceral, believable results under deadline pressure.
