Under the guidance of a Licensed Engineer, you will manage field investigations, log soil samples, perform engineering calculations/designs, and assist in preparing proposals and reports, as well as support projects and clients.Testing construction materials: Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards. Analyzing construction plans and specifications: Verify that they align with project goals before conducting field observations. Recording and managing field activities: Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield® or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination. Preparing reports and proposals: Help draft reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation. Communicating daily: Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.About You:You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a similar engineering field You have 0-2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphaltYou have an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or are on track to obtainYou have the desire and willingness to obtain at least one (1) industry certification within 6 months of employmentYou have basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English languageYou Are Willing and Able to:Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditionsWalking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours when necessaryGrow With Us:At S&ME, your career growth matters.
