They typically inspect major systems such as roofing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, as well as the structure, foundation, and exterior. Entry level inspectors document their findings in detailed reports for home buyers, sellers, or real estate professionals. These reports help clients make informed decisions about property purchases or repairs. Inspectors usually follow state or local guidelines and may work under the supervision of experienced inspectors as they gain knowledge and certifications.
