Job description

PBSGC is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Foreman that is willing to work in the Louisiana area and surrounding states as assigned.
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient management of equipment and crews on marine construction sites in Louisiana and surrounding states. The Heavy Civil Construction Foreman will report to the Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient management of marine construction projects to include leadership of personnel, and management of assets including vessels, barges, equipment, and materials.
  • Responsible for mobilization of crew, equipment, and products on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for assigned assets including vessels, barges, equipment, and materials.
  • Position will interface in a manner that will build positive relationships with all personnel on construction projects, contractors, inspectors, and the general public.
  • Order materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout the process.
  • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
  • Handle on-site paperwork and daily work reports.
  • Being onsite full-time.
  • Perform and/or participate in weekly safety meetings onsite.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with working in a marine environment on the inland waterways and especially the Mississippi River is beneficial but not required.
  • Minimum 3 years' topographical or hydrographical surveying experience.
  • Proficient knowledge Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of operating various equipment; i.e. Back Hoe, Track Hoe, Grader, Dozer, Loader, etc.
  • Proficient in setting, transferring and understanding grades.
  • Safe work experience and a commitment to safe leadership of personnel and safe work practice is a must.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents, contracts, specifications, soil reports, and/or government regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem solving, initiative, and teamwork skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work in marine conditions including inclement weather.
  • Must be willing and able to travel as the job location requires to include consecutive weeks away from home.
  • Must complete on-boarding physical and exertion function test with physical therapist after acceptance of offer to evaluate ability to meet the physical essential functions of the position.
  • Must be comfortable working over and adjacent to water and willingness to participate in water rescue.
