Job Location: High River, AB
Job Type:Full Time
Shifts Available: 2nd
Schedule:3:45pm 12:30am (Nightshift). Occasional Saturdays for overtime based on business needs
Compensation: Wage is starting at $24.55/hour as per the collective agreement
Starting rate for experienced qualified Halal Butchers (2+ years of experience) is $26.25/hour
Starting rate for entry level (less than 2 years of experience) is $24.55/hour

Principal Accountabilities

  • Willing to be trained if you are a qualified candidate that meets all the Halal requirements
  • Slaughter cattle as prescribed by religious laws using knives
  • Skin, clean and trim carcasses
  • Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses
  • Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling
  • Work with specialized knives and equipment according to workplace health and safety requirements as well as safe food handling practices


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be currently legal to work in Canada
  • Must meet all the requirements of Halal slaughter practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimumof 2 years industrial Halal butchering experience in a manufacturing environment
