Job Summary

We are seeking an entry level Facility Engineer to join our hotel engineering and maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have some hands-on experience maintaining hotel facilities, troubleshooting mechanical and building systems, and responding quickly and professionally to maintenance requests.

This position is responsible for keeping the hotel, guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and building systems operating safely and efficiently. The right candidate is a dependable problem solver who can work independently while providing excellent service to guests and hotel staff.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible, as assigned by the General Manager, for engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, in order to maintain the guestrooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.
  • Responds when dispatched or assigned to engineering and maintenance concerns; emergencies involving the property.
  • Position involves the inspection and repair to guestrooms, public space and back of house areas. Will need to repair, touch up or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall covering, caulking, grouting, masonry, or other miscellaneous repairs.
  • This position requires the candidate to possess considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades in order to visually inspect and detect items needing repair.
  • Candidate must have some experience of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, wall covering, masonry, painting, and HVAC-mechanical related experience, which is used frequently on the job.
  • Performing of all assigned job duties, requires experience in using basic hand and power tools and the ability to stoop, kneel, grasp, lift, push and pull weights up to 100 lbs. The ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet high and reach in all directions, often time’s overhead is also required.
  • Performs and/or monitors maintenance and preventative maintenance projects.
  • Responds to all building-related safety concerns.
  • Maintains departmental compliance with hotel maintenance procedures.
  • Supports hotel departmental maintenance programs and executes daily, weekly and monthly checklists, as assigned.
  • Assist management in specifying proper supplies and equipment for operations.
  • Involved in the proper cleaning and preventive maintenance of pool/spa area. Responsible for maintaining the Pool/Spa Maintenance Log up-to-date at all times.


Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in hotel engineering, facility maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
  • Ability to read basic equipment manuals, diagrams, and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and maneuver equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work a full time schedule


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a hotel or similar environment
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems and work-order software.
