Position Details
Under the direction of the school Principal, perform skilled and semi-skilled duties related to operation and maintenance of computers and other computer-related school equipment in a computer laboratory at an assigned school; organize and schedule computer lab activities.
Essential Functions - Typical Duties
Plan and organize computer lab activities independently at an assigned school; schedule lab use by instructional personnel, administrative staff and students.
Maintain computer systems and related electronic equipment including hardware such as disk drives, monitors, printers, keyboards, interface cables and modems.
Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing of malfunctioning microcomputers, hard and floppy disk drives and related computer hardware; test, install and replace interface cards; repair and/or replace computer cables.
Perform minor maintenance, adjustments and repairs to materials, computer monitors, printers and other related equipment; install computer modems.
Maintain and communicate laboratory schedule; supervise users' access to the computer system to maintain the integrity of the protected files on the hard disk.
Provide for regular back-up of the hard disk; assign passwords to users; control disk storage allocation.
Supervise the use of the laboratory by students and teaching staff to assure proper and safe use of the equipment; prepare the laboratory for use by teachers, including checking equipment, loading appropriate software onto the system and arranging temporary disk storage as necessary.
Maintain an inventory of computer hardware and software; maintain records on assigned equipment and its usage; maintain backup copies or required software.
Assist teachers with laboratory instruction as requested; instruct teachers and assist students in the use and operation of materials and equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory microcomputers and provide for a preventive maintenance program; refer major repair problems according to established procedures.
Assist in the development of computer networks, programs and procedures to maintain school records and generate administrative reports.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
High School Dipolma or equivalency. Six months experience in working with children in an organized setting and two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of micro computer equipment.
Incumbents in this classification will also need to meet the NCLB requirements as follows: (A) completion of at least 2 years of study (48 semester units) at an institution of higher education; or (B) possession of an associate's (or higher) degree; or (C) graduation from high school and passage of a formal state or local academic assessment that demonstrates knowledge and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions in this classification may require bilingual skills.

• Paid Vacation: Vacation is prorated based on months worked per year and longevity with the District.
• Holidays: 16 days paid per fiscal year
