Job Summary:
As a Research Services Professional in Debo Sardar's Lab, you will develop research skills in a new and growing lab. You will gain exposure to a broad range of concepts in sensory neuroscience - ranging from cutting-edge next generation sequencing to in vivo technologies in mouse models. Our focus in on glial cells in the mouse brain. Our goal is to utilize your existing skills while simultaneously exposing you to new research that benefits both your career goals and our lab's overall productivity.
We are currently seeking a full-time position to support the lab. Primary responsibility will be performing mouse brain surgery for in vivo genetic manipulations. Therefore, past experience in this area or willingness to learn surgery skills is highly desirable. Other key responsibility will be maintenance of mouse colonies. Additional responsibilities will be of assisting with ongoing experiments. These experiments include, but are not limited to, immunohistochemistry, genomics, microscopy and behavioral assays. There is a possibility of promotion to a lab manager position.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in performing mouse brain surgeries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing mouse brain surgeries using stereotaxis methods
- Performing mouse brain surgerues using in-utero electroporation
- Mouse colony management - breeding, weaning, genotyping, colony maintenance
- Co-ordinate with lab members to match animal production to experimental needs
- Harvesting mouse brain tissue and sectioning brain slices
- Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, preparing solutions, equipment, and safety
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions
