The Engineering Technician II (Prototypes) is a mid-level position within Mesaโ€™s engineering department, distinguished from the entry-level role by demonstrated experience and technical contributions to projects. This position is responsible for performing advanced technical tasks related to prototype development, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Engineering Technicians II play a critical role in evaluating prototypes throughout the development process.ย ย 

Essential Duties:ย 

  • Reads & understands GD&T.ย ย 

  • Participate in design reviews.ย ย 

  • Assess designs for predictability, maintainability, safety and reliability.ย ย 

  • Welds prototype designs for generator and distribution containments.ย ย 

  • Assembles power generation equipment.ย ย 

  • Identify and resolve issues that arise during prototype and testing phases.ย ย 

  • Operates Load banks for power generation equipment testing.ย ย 

  • Maintains shop equipment.ย ย 

  • Maintains a safe, clean and effective working environment.ย ย 

  • Maintains parts inventory stock levels as well as coordinating delivery and receiving of project components.ย ย 

  • Communicates with internal personnel on project status, recommendations, and completion dates.ย ย 

  • Communicate with engineers on design, assembly or process issues.ย ย 

  • Performs quality checks on manufactured parts.ย ย 

  • Understanding of Mesa internal processes and procedures.ย ย 

  • Acting as liaison between development and other departments during events.ย ย 

  • Troubleshooting complex issues at the systems level.ย ย 

  • Supporting continuing efforts to improve quality, safety and productivity.ย ย

Education:ย 

Required:ย ย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.ย ย

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Mesa Engineering Technician or in a related field.ย ย ย 

  • Demonstrated technical contributions to projects.ย ย 

  • Performed Engineering Technician I job duties with a high level of quality and productivity; to the satisfaction of the Team Lead and Manager.ย ย 

Preferred:ย ย 

  • 2-3 yearsโ€™ experience with mechanical & electrical fabrication and assembly.ย ย 

  • 2-3+ years of Mesa experience.ย ย 

  • Honorably discharged service veterans.ย ย

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.ย
