What You Will Do:

The Gas Fusion Inspection Technician is responsible for inspecting and validating polyethylene (PE) pipe fusion work on gas distribution systems. This role ensures all fusion joints meet required safety, quality, and regulatory standards, helping maintain the integrity of gas infrastructure. Southern Cross has immediate openings for Entry-Level Technicians that will be in areas in/around Tarrytown, Bronx and Manhattan, NY to include all boroughs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage daily assigned tasks for safety, quality, and efficiency to exceed customer expectations

  • Inspect butt fusion, electrofusion, and socket fusion joints for quality and compliance

  • Document inspection results, maintain logs and prepare reports

  • Identify defects or non-compliant work and recommend corrective actions

  • Schedule and plan work efficiently

  • Follow all safety rules

  • Follow organizational policies and procedures

  • Keep Operator Qualifications current

  • Interact with the public, client's customers, and client's personnel professionally, respectfully, and cordially

  • Accurately complete task reports and work-related reports in a timely manner

  • Protect, inspect, and maintain assigned equipment and vehicle

Education and Experience:

  • Technical aptitude and past/former technical training is a plus

  • Computer and Smart Phone literate

  • Field Technicians must be able to read maps and navigate congested areas in large cities

  • Adept at using hand tools and equipment

Requirements:

  • **All Field Technicians are Required to successfully pass all Operator Qualification training, and testing pertaining to meter work/meter reading to proceed with employment.

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Must have a good driving record and hold a valid driver's license.

  • Good vision with or without correction.

  • Physically able to bend, squat and move heavy objects and use a pipe wrench and other hand tools and to lift and reach overhead

  • Work hours will vary depending on client needs and will include weekends, holidays, overnight assignments and rotating shifts

What You Will Earn:

  • Compensation: Starting Pay of $24.00/hour. There are also .50 cent raises after 60 days and 180 days
