POSITION SUMMARY:
The Groundman Installer (GI) is an entry level position requiring a good work ethic, and ability to take direction.
The GI will be responsible for assisting members of the crew through following all instructions safely, retaining critical detail learned, and the drive to become proficient in daily tasks assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude that reflects the mission and standards of Heartland Tower Solutions
  • Comply with all company standards, policies and procedures
  • Work as a team member of an overhead telecom crew
  • Able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
  • Load, unload, layout, organize and prep tools, supplies, equipment, materials need at the job site
  • Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Lineman, Foreman or supervisor
  • Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding manual labor such as: digging holes,
  • Ensures that all work considers the safety of the customer and general public and compliance with all governmental orders
  • Ensures all installation work is done according to quality standards, always complying with proper safety standards/procedures and work practices according to OSHA
  • Work in, on and around customer property while following company policies and maintaining the highest level of professionalism towards any customer and their property
  • Directly responsible for all vehicles and equipment in their control
  • The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested by upper management of the company (subject to all applicable federal and state laws)

  • Experience in Fiber outside plant construction or related experience, which includes experience in the placement of telecommunication cable (copper and fiber)

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must have time management, planning, organizational and job prioritizing skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able and willing to travel
  • Frequently will be working outside in conditions including inclement weather, heat and humidity, extreme cold and exposure to dust and asphalt

  • Load, unload and organize tools and equipment on truck

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb (including ladders), balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must on occasion properly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have basic mathematical skills
  • Previous Groundman/Lineman training preferred
  • Must have Class A CDL (or CDL permit required before starting, must obtain CDL within 90 days of hire)

OTHER REQUIRMENTS:
  • Must be local or willing to relocate to this area
  • Must hold and maintain a valid unrestricted Driver's License and be insurable by Heartland Solutions' insurance provider
  • Willing to work long hours, weekends, non-structured schedule, overtime, etc.
