High School Student Paid Internship Opportunities
The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, a Human Services Agency, is hiring immediately entry-level per diem/relief High School Students for Experiential Learning Internships. You will be able to choose what Program(s) you would like to intern in, which include our Residential Services, Day Services, and/or Community Services Programs. Evening and weekend hours are available in our Residential and Community Services Programs.

High School Student Intern Experiential Learning can include:
  • Specific tasks the Intern may perform while accompanied by a fully qualified staff:
  • Accompany and assist on outings and recreational opportunities
  • Support people on medical and other appointments/school/college etc.
  • Support people in all activities
  • May assist with physical programs that do not require in-servicing
  • Assist in all aspects of the routines, wake up, dressing, brushing teeth, chores they need to learn, complete goals
  • Assist with transport
  • Specific tasks the Intern can perform independently:
  • organizing
  • cleaning
  • cooking
  • gardening/landscaping/mowing
  • Activities such as painting, hobbies, games, reading, crafts etc.
  • Wellness activities
  • Meal prep and clean up
  • Laundry

High School Student Intern Qualifications:
  • Must currently be enrolled in High School and be 17 years of age.
  • Prefer interns that are interested in transitioning to a scheduled position upon turning age 18.
  • Ability to physically assist individuals who use wheelchairs and/or walkers.
