Location: Broken Arrow | Pay: Negotiable | Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (hours may vary based on company needs) | Duration: 9-Month Contract
Purpose of Position:
We are seeking an entry-level Software Engineer responsible for developing software for a visual simulation system. This role involves contributing to real-time image generation, visual environment creation tools, display system design and alignment, and computer systems with information security considerations. The position applies fundamental engineering principles, progressing to more complex activities as knowledge and experience grow. Work is performed under the close supervision and guidance of senior team members.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer will develop, support, and maintain software components, interfaces, and subsystems throughout the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities include identifying and analyzing requirements, software design and construction, testing and verification, problem resolution, and ongoing maintenance. The role involves collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, consulting with engineers across departments, and providing regular reports to management.
Additional duties include designing prototypes, conducting research and development, and supporting computer system requirements and hardware integration. The engineer will employ disciplined software development methods, including configuration management, testing techniques, and proper documentation. Staying current with advancements in technology through technical papers, conferences, and periodicals is essential.
The role requires a professional, cooperative demeanor when interacting with internal teams and external customers, demonstrating commitment to common goals and effective communication. The position is also accountable for adherence to export control restrictions, the security of company materials, and the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience as an Unreal Engine Developer.
- Proficiency in C++ programming.
- Background in game or graphics programming (e.g., OpenGL, Direct3D, HLSL, GLSL).
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
Preferred Technical Experience:
- Strong mathematics capability, including matrix algebra, projective geometry, and vector math.
- Experience in game development.
- Knowledge of STL and/or Boost libraries and data structures.
- Familiarity with design patterns and multi-threading.
- Experience with MS Visual Studio.
- Scripting experience in Python or similar languages.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications.
- Exposure to Lean/Agile software development practices.
- Understanding of multispectral sensors, night vision, radar systems, or geographic information systems (GIS).
This position requires a candidate with a strong foundation in programming and software engineering, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under supervision while adhering to project schedules and quality standards.
