What is an Entry Level Full Stack Software Developer?

An Entry Level Full Stack Software Developer is a professional who works with both the front-end (user interface) and back-end (server and database) aspects of web applications. They are usually recent graduates or individuals with limited industry experience who possess foundational programming skills in multiple technologies. Their responsibilities often include writing and debugging code, collaborating with team members, and learning new tools and frameworks as required. Entry-level full stack developers are expected to build and maintain applications under the guidance of more senior developers, gradually expanding their expertise and responsibilities over time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Full Stack Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Full Stack Software Developer, you need a solid understanding of programming languages like JavaScript, Python, or Java, along with a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js), version control systems (like Git), and databases (SQL or NoSQL) is typically required. Problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication are standout soft skills for collaborating with colleagues and tackling complex coding challenges. These skills and qualities are crucial to efficiently build, test, and maintain applications in dynamic development environments.

What Does an Entry-Level Full Stack Software Developer Do?

Entry-level full stack software developers support senior staff in the development of a company at all layers of its computer and network platforms. Entry-level full stack software engineers code in a variety of languages, including PHP, CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. As an entry-level employee, your main job is to learn more about programming in a business environment until you are proficient with the company's network operations. What We're Looking For

  • Curiosity and initiative to keep up with fast-moving AI and web technologies, evaluate what matters, and apply them in product work

  • 1-3 years of software development experience, including professional, internship, freelance, or strong project-based work.

  • Experience building web applications with React and Python.

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Familiarity with backend development, APIs, databases, and authentication.

  • Experience using Git and GitHub in a collaborative workflow.

  • Interest in AI application development, LLMs, automation, and emerging developer tools.

  • Ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot independently, and work in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical teammates.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with OpenAI APIs or other LLM APIs.

  • Experience with Supabase/PostgreSQL, edge functions, or serverless backend patterns.

  • Experience deploying applications on Vercel, AWS, or self-hosted platforms such as Coolify.

  • Familiarity with Docker, environment variables, secrets management, and basic production deployment practices.

  • Experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar.

  • Exposure to prompt engineering, AI agents, RAG, workflow automation, or AI-powered internal tools.

  • A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of applications, prototypes, or experiments you have built.
