Job description

Summary

This is an entry level position for recent mechanical engineering (or similar technical degrees) graduates with little practical experience but show potential through education or other manufacturing work related experiences. To provide engineering support for plant systems for equipment and facilities. Ensures mechanical systems and components meet required specifications for safety, economy, reliability and sustainability. Designs, coordinates and implements mechanical systems, evaluates, selects and applies mechanical engineering techniques, principals and procedures to ensure the highest quality product is produced. Prepares complete documentation related to projects.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, coordinate construction, procurement, and installation of cost-effective equipment to ensure safety, reliability and productivity

Supervises and inspects all installations for compliance of specifications and satisfactory operation

Discusses and solves complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors and suppliers

Produces details of specifications and designs

Manages projects using sound reliability engineering principles and techniques

Develops, tests and evaluates theoretical designs

Monitors and commissions plant and systems and assists with troubleshooting and repairs

Considers the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints

Uses research, analytical, conceptual planning skills, mathematical modelling, and computer-aided design

Provides maintenance department appropriate documentation and training on systems

Prepares documentation, reports, and updates engineering data related to studies and projects

Provides technical support to both maintenance and production operations

Knowledge and Skills

CAD Inventor or SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Software

Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, welding, HVAC

Education and Experience

COOP's, Internships, or other industrial / manufacturing experiences

Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and other typical manufacturing processes

Has worked successfully in both team and individual environments - good listener - continuous learner

BACHELORS DEGREE - Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel for training assignments to overseas facilities or corporate headquarters. Otherwise - limited domestic travel for educational, technical, or business related opportunities.

Physical Requirements

Able to spend time walking the production areas, talking with operators and maintenance associates, can climb 3 floors of stairs, able to climb ladders. Use small hand tools and meters for performing evaluations, calibrations, and troubleshooting. Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
