Department: Production
Job Title: Night Dunnage Machine Operator (Entry-Level)
Job Location: 1000 N Hill Rd, Bernalillo, NM 87004
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts; 60 hours/ week.
5 pm- 5 am; Monday - Friday
Overtime as required; occasionally need to work weekends.
Compensation: $22/ hour (Additional $1.50/hr night shift differential per company policy)
Full or Part Time: Full-time only

JOB SUMMARY:
  • The primary responsibility of the Dunnage Machine Operator is to operate the Dunnage machine that cuts dunnage spacers which are used when stacking units of wallboard in the warehouse.
  • Safety and quality should always be part of the daily operation:
    • to ensure a safe workplace.
    • and to produce the highest quality product possible.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education requirement: High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to lift/ move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 51 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to perform basic math and metrics.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Job training program is provided by the company.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
OPERATIONS
  • Operate dunnage machine.
  • Operate forklift to stack dunnage units in the warehouse.
  • Supply dunnage machine with units of culled wallboard.
  • Preheats glue pot and supplies the pot with glue balls.
  • Cleans and empties dust collector and dumpster.
  • Know how to safely start and test all equipment in the area.

SAFETY
  • This operations position is a safety-sensitive position due to routine close proximity to moving and automatic equipment as well as mobile equipment.
  • Operate in a safe manner, following all plant and departmental safety rules and procedures.
  • Participate in daily/monthly crew safety meetings.
  • Know how and where to properly lock out all job-related equipment.
  • Understand safe operation for forklifts.
  • Understand mobile equipment safety inspection.
  • Wear appropriate PPE for the job conditions.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the designated area.
  • Comprehend and implement JSA's for the area.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Must be flexible with job duties; may be required to fill in on other jobs when the business or organization is short-handed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
