Step into Your New Role
As an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) Technician based out of our Mt. Laurel, NJ office, you'll be part of a team that plays a critical role in the development of commercial, industrial, public, and private infrastructure projects. No experience required-just curiosity, drive, and a willingness to learn! From your very first day, you'll be trained to perform hands-on field and lab work that ensures the quality and safety of construction materials and practices.
This role will expose you to major construction projects and provide valuable experience with field testing, materials sampling, reporting, and inspection support. You'll gain industry-recognized certifications (at no cost to you) and receive mentoring from seasoned professionals who are committed to your growth.
Once trained, you'll be able to:
  • Read and interpret basic construction plans and specifications.
  • Perform field observations and on-site sampling/testing of materials used in the construction of buildings, roadways, and bridges.
  • Test materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and reinforcing steel to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Cast and label concrete, grout, and masonry field samples for laboratory strength testing.
  • Document daily field activities and observations in digital reports using a company-provided tablet or laptop.
  • Pick up and deliver construction material samples to the laboratory and assist with equipment logistics.
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, clients, and Kleinfelder team members.
  • Support and actively participate in Kleinfelder's safety culture and Loss Prevention System (LPS) programs.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and over 50 lbs with assistance or equipment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
  • Basic familiarity with technology, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and mobile devices.
  • Strong communication skills, punctuality, and a team-oriented attitude.

Certifications to be obtained within the first 6 months (paid by Kleinfelder):
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade I
  • Nuclear Density Gauge Certification
  • Other certifications as required by local jurisdictions
