We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our dynamic team at FAM Brands. In this role, you will play a key part in creating cutting-edge designs that combine function, performance, and style. You will work closely with Senior Designers, Technical Designers, Product Development and Merchandising teams to bring concepts to life.
  • Design Collaboration
    • Assist the Senior Designer in conceptualizing and developing sports bra designs that align with FAM Brands' aesthetic and performance standards.
    • Contribute to trend research, seasonal mood boards, and inspiration materials to guide the design direction.
    • Help prepare presentation boards and design sketches for internal reviews and approvals.
  • Technical & Product Development
    • Work with the Technical Design and Product Development teams to ensure accurate execution of design details construction, and fit.
    • Maintain knowledge of performance fabrics, trims and garment construction methods specific to sports bras.
    • Assist in sample fittings, document feedback and make timely updates to tech packs as needed.
  • Sample Management
    • Track and organize prototype and sample requests, ensuring they meet deadlines and quality requirements.
    • Coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams to manage sample logistics and maintain an organized sample library.
    • Support the Senior Designer in reviewing and approving lab dips, fabric swatches and other pre-production materials.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Partner with Merchandising, Production and Marketing teams to support successful product launches and campaigns.
    • Provide product knowledge, design insights and creative assets for photoshoots and marketing collateral.
    • Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and customers to inform future improvements and innovations.
  • Administrative & Organizational Tasks
    • Update and maintain design documentation (tech packs, line sheets, BOMs) with accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Track project timelines, monitor critical milestones, and help ensure on-time delivery of key design components.
    • Prepare materials for seasonal line presentations and internal design meetings.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in apparel design (internship or entry-level experience will be considered).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and related design software.
    • Familiarity with 3D design software (e.g., CLO 3D) is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of fabric properties, garment construction and printing techniques.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate design concepts clearly and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail for accurate documentation and sample tracking.
  • Passionate & Curious: Genuine interest in fitness, performance apparel, and staying informed about emerging trends and technologies in the market.
  • Adaptable: Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and pivot quickly as priorities shift.
