Job Title: WelderJob DescriptionThis role involves performing high-quality welding on large plate projects in a job shop environment that serves a wide variety of customers. You will use multiple welding processes, with a strong emphasis on flux core welding on heavy plate, and will complete required weld tests to demonstrate your skills. The position offers both first and second shift opportunities in a clean, open, and well-organized facility.
Responsibilities- Perform flux core welding on large plate jobs, focusing on heavy plate work using 3/32 inch wire.
- Weld on plate thicknesses of at least 1/4 inch and complete production welds that meet quality and safety standards.
- Interpret and apply weld symbols correctly to ensure accurate and consistent welds, even without reading full blueprints.
- Operate and adjust welding equipment as required for flux core, sub arc, metal core, MIG, and stick processes, following established parameters.
- Complete a T-Bar test and 2G (horizontal) position test as part of the qualification process, producing a 1/2 inch weld on one side and a 5/8 inch weld on the other.
- After the contract begins, complete a bevel test for x-ray inspection to validate weld integrity and quality.
- Work efficiently on multiple customer jobs in a job shop setting, adapting to different project requirements and timelines.
- Follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to a safe and organized shop environment.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure that all welds meet specifications and customer requirements.
Essential Skills- At least 2 years of experience performing flux core welds using 3/32 inch wire.
- Proven experience welding on large plate jobs in a fabrication or job shop environment.
- Hands-on experience welding on plate thicknesses of at least 1/4 inch.
- Strong proficiency with 3/32 inch flux core wire, with 2+ years of consistent use.
- Ability to read and understand weld symbols accurately.
- Capability to pass a T-Bar test and 2G (horizontal) position test using preset machine settings.
- Ability to perform a bevel test suitable for x-ray inspection after the contract begins.
- Solid understanding of welding safety practices and safe operation of welding equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with sub arc welding using 5/32 to 3/16 inch wire in both automatic and hand-held applications.
- Experience with flux core welding in the range specified for 3/32 inch wire.
- Experience with metal core welding using .045 to 1/16 inch wire.
- Experience with MIG welding using .045 inch wire and related ranges.
- Experience with stick welding using 1/8 to 5/16 inch electrodes.
- Background in large fabrication or job shop environments is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working on heavy plate and large-scale welded assemblies.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a clean, open, and organized job shop focused on large plate fabrication. The role offers two primary shifts: first shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an additional 5-hour shift on Saturday; second shift runs from 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, with an additional 5-hour shift on Saturday. You will use a range of welding technologies and equipment, including sub arc (automatic and hand-held), flux core, metal core, MIG, and stick welding setups. The facility emphasizes safety, proper use of welding machinery, and maintaining a tidy work area. Standard industrial work attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected to ensure safety and comfort while working with heavy plate and welding equipment.
