As a Roxtec Field Engineer, you'll be the critical link between field conditions and certified system performance-working hands-on at customer sites and construction projects while partnering closely with our Test & Certification team. Job Summary

The Roxtec Field Engineer provides onsite and remote technical support to customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders, while serving as a critical extension of the Test & Certification department. This role bridges field conditions with certified system performance by applying sound engineering judgment, supporting compliance with applicable codes and standards, and feeding field insights back into testing, certification, and product development activities.  



Essential Job Functions  

  • Provide onsite (customer sites and construction projects) and remote engineering support to customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders regarding Roxtec systems and applications. 
  • Evaluate installation conditions, system configurations, and application constraints to determine suitability relative to tested and certified products. 
  • Assist with troubleshooting field issues by identifying root causes related to installation, application, or environmental conditions. 
  • Apply engineering judgment when assessing applications that fall outside standard details, escalating to Test & Certificates when formal evaluation or documentation is required. 
  • Observe and document field conditions to support continuous improvement of testing programs, installation guidance, and technical documentation. 
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and related documentation to ensure suitability, accuracy and alignment with code requirements.  
  • Assist with Test & Certification activities to help maintain compliance with applicable standards.

  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple field support requests and project activities from intake through closeout, with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize, document, and follow up on technical requests in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. 
  • Proven troubleshooting skills, including ability to identify root cause(s) of installation, application, or environmental issues and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes/standards, and to assess field conditions against tested and certified system configurations. 
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders, including recommendations, limitations, and next steps. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions and regions (e.g., Sales, Test & Certification, Product, and Operations) to resolve field issues and improve technical guidance. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of field installation constraints in construction and industrial environments. 
  • Ability to produce clear field documentation (e.g., site observations, photos, sketches, and written reports) and maintain accurate technical records. 
  • Effectively work safely in construction and industrial environments, including compliance with site safety requirements and use of required PPE. 
  • Travel up to 66% of the time, including travel to active job sites and industrial facilities. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, chemical, fire protection, electrical engineering or equivalent experience. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Autodesk. 
  • Experience in product testing/certification preferred. 
  • Experience in international projects and cross-cultural communication preferred. 
  • Understanding of construction methods and field installation practices preferred.
