Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer Reports to: Principal Job Summary:

The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for ensuring structural integrity & safety during fire events, utilizing science & engineering principles to protect people, property, & businesses from fire & smoke. This role involves analyzing fire risks to design specialized systems like sprinklers & alarms, ensuring building code compliance, & developing evacuation plans.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Produces highly detailed, coordinated construction drawings across all disciplines
  • Coordinates with internal team members to support project success
  • Integrates into a highly technical team & consistently delivers high-quality work
  • Designs compliant & effective fire protection systems & fire alarm systems
  • Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs, & construction-phase documentation
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit &/or AutoCAD
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skillset
  • Strong attention to detail & accuracy
  • Highly organized & able to manage multiple tasks & deadlines
  • Proven success working with all levels of management
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced & occasionally high-pressure environment
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering or a closely related engineering field is required
  • 1-3 years of fire protection design experience
  • E.I.T. certification preferred but not required
  • PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel and move throughout construction sites intermittently as required by project needs.
