What You'll Do

  • Inspect Fire Sprinkler Systems: Perform inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of water-based fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA 25 and applicable local AHJ requirements.
  • Inspect Fire Alarm Systems: Inspect and test fire alarm and signaling systems, including associated devices, in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable requirements.
  • Identify Deficiencies: Accurately identify, document, and communicate deficiencies and system conditions requiring attention.
  • Complete Reports: Prepare accurate AES 2.1 inspection reports and submit required documentation through The Compliance Engine.
  • Represent Symons: Communicate professionally with customers and help them understand inspection findings and maintain safe, functional, and compliant buildings.
  • Use Technology: Learn and utilize ServiceTrade, The Compliance Engine, Paycom, Outlook, mobile devices, and other company systems to complete daily responsibilities.
  • Own Your Route: Plan and manage inspection routes efficiently while completing assigned inspections safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Build Your Expertise: Develop a strong working knowledge of NFPA 25, NFPA 72, applicable codes and standards, and Symons Fire Protection inspection procedures.
  • Work as a Team: Communicate effectively with office staff, technicians, supervisors, and customers to ensure inspections and follow-up work are completed successfully.
Compensation
  • $30.00 - $40.00 per hour (Dependent on experience)

What You'll Need (Job Requirements)

  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant work experience. Previous fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire protection, mechanical, electrical, inspection, or related trade experience is preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and apply NFPA 25, NFPA 72, company procedures, and applicable AHJ requirements.
  • Communication: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand safety instructions, communicate with coworkers and customers, and complete inspection reports.
  • Technology: Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, computers, email, and mobile applications. Must be willing and able to learn systems including ServiceTrade, The Compliance Engine, Paycom, and Outlook.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions and use sound judgment and common sense to troubleshoot and address field conditions.
  • Math: Basic math skills, including rates, ratios, percentages, measurements, and calculations.
  • Credentials: OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, and Anti-Harassment training must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Driving: A valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company standards is required. Position may require operation of company vehicles.
  • Reliability: Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 100 pounds; stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, climb ladders, and safely handle tools and equipment throughout the workday. Must have sufficient visual acuity and clear color vision to accurately inspect fire protection equipment and identify system components.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial environments, including exposure to outdoor weather, varying noise levels, ladders/heights, mechanical equipment, and active customer facilities.
