  • Design APIs and shared services that improve collaboration between research, engineering, and product teams.

  • Evaluate and implement AI-assisted development tools and Large Language Model (LLM) technologies to improve software development, research productivity, documentation, and knowledge management.

  • Champion modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, and reproducible development.

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap of the Index Research & Design team by identifying technologies and approaches that improve scalability, efficiency, and innovation.

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience developing software in quantitative finance, financial data, investment research, or another data-intensive analytical environment.

  • Expert Python programming skills with experience building high-quality, maintainable software.

  • Strong experience processing large and complex datasets using modern Python data libraries such as Polars, PyArrow, and SQL.

  • Experience developing applications or analytical services on AWS or another major cloud platform.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, data engineering concepts, and modern software development practices.

  • Experience designing scalable analytical tools, reusable software libraries, or research platforms.

  • Interest in applying AI and LLM technologies to improve software engineering and quantitative research workflows.

  • Good understanding of financial markets, index methodologies, or quantitative investment concepts, with the ability to collaborate effectively with quantitative researchers.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across research, engineering, product, and technology teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software for financial analytics, investment research, or index-related applications.

  • Experience building data-intensive applications or distributed analytical workflows.

  • Familiarity with modern development environments and engineering standards, including Git, automated testing, and CI/CD.

  • Experience using AI coding assistants or LLM APIs to enhance software development and engineering productivity.

  • MSc or PhD or equivalent experience or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or another quantitative field.
