What is an entry level financial services job?

Entry level financial services jobs are positions within banks, investment firms, insurance companies, and other financial institutions that are designed for individuals who are new to the industry or have limited professional experience. These roles often include positions like bank teller, financial advisor trainee, customer service representative, or junior analyst. They provide foundational training, exposure to industry regulations, and opportunities to learn about financial products and client services. Entry level jobs are a great way for recent graduates or career changers to gain experience and start building a career in finance.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect in an entry level financial services position?

In an entry-level financial services role, you can expect to handle a variety of foundational tasks such as assisting with client onboarding, preparing financial reports, updating databases, and supporting senior advisors with research and administrative duties. You'll likely interact with both internal teams and clients, learning about investment products, compliance protocols, and industry regulations. These responsibilities provide a strong introduction to the financial sector and offer valuable opportunities to develop analytical, communication, and organizational skills essential for career advancement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level financial services professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in Entry Level Financial Services, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field are essential. Familiarity with financial software like Excel, CRM systems, and sometimes certifications such as FINRA Series 7 or 63 can be advantageous. Excellent communication, customer service orientation, and integrity help professionals build trust and effectively support client needs. These skills are critical for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and positive client relationships in the highly regulated financial industry.

Position Overview:

Are you looking for more than just a job? Do you want a career with unlimited growth potential and the opportunity to build a future in financial services, insurance, and leadership?

Our State Farm agency is seeking a motivated, customer-focused professional who is excited to grow. This role is designed for someone who wants to develop expertise in life insurance, health insurance, and financial services while gaining the skills and experience needed to pursue advanced opportunities - including becoming a financial services specialist, or even a State Farm agent in the future.

You’ll begin by helping customers protect what matters most through life and health insurance solutions while learning the fundamentals of financial planning. As you grow, you’ll have the opportunity to earn securities licenses, expand into investment conversations, and develop the business, leadership, and relationship-building skills needed for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Help customers understand and secure life and health insurance solutions that support their financial goals
  • Conduct needs-based conversations to identify protection and financial planning opportunities
  • Build lasting relationships through proactive outreach, annual reviews, and exceptional customer service
  • Learn the fundamentals of financial services while working toward required insurance and securities licenses
  • Expand into investment and broader financial planning conversations as licensing and experience grow
  • Develop sales, leadership, and business management skills through ongoing coaching and mentorship
  • Maintain compliance with insurance and financial industry regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Life & Health license preferred, or willingness to obtain
  • Currently hold or ability to attain FINRA securities licenses (SIE, Series 6, Series 63, and Series 65 or ChFC designation)
  • Sales, customer service, or financial services experience is helpful but not required
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and eager to learn
  • Interested in long-term career growth, leadership opportunities, and potentially becoming a State Farm agent
Why Join Our Agency?

This is more than an entry-level financial services position - it's an opportunity to build a long-term career. You'll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and support as you develop professionally, with opportunities to grow into financial services, agency leadership, or even agency ownership.
