Job description

Description

Under the department manager's and director's general direction, the Student Summer Youth Worker provides support by performing various assigned duties to gain real-life work experience connected to entry-level employment, career exposure, and/or alignment with school career pathways. The program offers diverse experiences, from entry-level clinical assignments, clerical and filing work, and entry-level finance work to hands-on manual labor. Each Job assignment is designed to provide valuable professional development opportunities for youth. This temporary summer position is for individuals aged 16 and older living in Effingham County and/or enrolled in an Effingham County High School.


WORK SCHEDULE

  • Part-Time (Up to 20 hours a week)

PRIMARY DUTIES

  1. Perform tasks assigned by the supervisor that contribute to the department's day-to-day operations.
  2. The task may vary depending on department needs.
  3. Duties can range from entry-level clinical assignments, clerical and filing work, and entry-level finance work to hands-on manual labor such as Environmental Services and Maintenance.

EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Participants are expected to learn and contribute to the assigned department actively.
  2. Embrace the opportunity for personal and professional growth.
  3. Adhere to the guidelines and expectations outlined by Effingham Health System Policies.

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO:

Assigned Department manager and Director.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effingham County resident or enrolled in an Effingham County High School
  • 16 years of age or older

MINIMUM SKILLS

  • Dependable and willing to assume responsibility for developing workforce knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Good Attitude that conveys a positive and respectful demeanor toward EHS staff, patients, visitors, and residents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all rules and regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
